Bakewell-White Z39 Custom

Hijinx was the final Bakewell White Z39 built by Hakes marine. Her decks and interior were completed by boatbuilder Dave Wade, she was built 300kg lighter than the first two Z39's and fitted with an upgraded keel designed by Bakewell White and carbon rig. Her sisterships Jazz Player and Wild West campaigned extensively in Australia's races, including multiple Sydney Hobarts.

Hijinx is competitive fully crewed and particularly shorthanded, her deep draft keel means she is easy to handle and performs without weight on the rail. We have loved doing the SSANZ triple series, Gold Cup, Coastal Classic, Bay Week and all the local Gulf Harbour racing on her.

She has a light and comfortable interior fit out for weekend and holiday cruising with all the amenities; 7 berths, hot water, oven, fridge, shower, holding tank, boom tent, autopilot, lazy jacks, anchor winch and furler.

We have kept her extremely well maintained and upgraded. Some of the recent items:

$3,500 engine overhaul by Ovlov Marine, Dec 2023. New mainsail cover in 2023.
All winches serviced and rig check in 2023
LPG system overhauled in 2023, current gas cert until 2025.

It's time for us to transition to a bigger cruising boat, Hijinx is ready for her new owner to step on and go sailing and racing. Option to rent current GH marina berth.
